Our
Mission is to provide fundraising opportunities to the XCG Cheer &
Dance competitive cheerleaders/dancers and their families, as well as
Little Steps Preschool students and families in an effort to help
offset the financial responsibilities associated with tuition,
competitions, uniforms and other costs associated with these
programs.
Hello
and welcome to the XCG Parent Booster Club. Below is an overview of
the Club and its intentions for the 2009-2010 season.
What
is the XCG Booster Club?
As
our mission statement expresses, the XCG Booster Club is a
volunteer-based organization that provides fundraising opportunities
to the XCG. The booster Club will offer organized fundraisers
throughout the year, which means there will always be an opportunity
to offset your costs.
How
do I become a member, and what are my responsibilities?
Parents
may become members when their child becomes a member of the XCG
family. All parents are encouraged to join as well as suggest ideas
and volunteer to organize a fundraiser. There will be a fundraising
coordinator and one parent from each team.
Are
there costs involved with becoming a member of the Booster
Club?
There
is an annual membership fee of $10 per person, or $16 per family. You
must pay the required dues in order to participate in any
fundraisers. If you choose not to fundraise, and later decide that
you would like to participate, you must pay the dues at that
time.
What
does this membership fee cover?
This
membership fee covers expenses and operating costs the Club incurs
such as shipping, copy paper, Xeroxing and supplies.
What
does the Booster Club offer?
The
Booster Club will offer fundraisers that sell a product, such as car
wash tickets, gourmet food items or candles. A deadline and delivery
date will be posted for each fundraiser. Orders must be handed in to
the fundraising coordinator by this date. Deadlines may be extended.
The Club also may sponsor fundraisers offering a service, such as a
spaghetti dinner. You must volunteer for, and be present during this
type of event in order to collect the proceeds.
Where
do the proceeds go?
Monies
earned by fundraising will be credited to an account set up in the
cheerleader's/dancer's name. The Club will manage these accounts.
This money can be withdrawn and applied towards XCG costs by filling
out a receipt. These costs include: Uniforms, competition fees,
tuition, cheer camp costs and any other expenses paid to XCG for
cheerleading/dancing related items. Fundraisers may also be offered
that benefit the gym or the booster club, to use for all of the
students as a whole.
How is
the fundraising information distributed?
Each
team will have a file folder. This folder must be checked at each
practice, as all XCG papers and fundraising handouts will be put in
these folders.
No papers will be handed out.
Why
fundraise?
Cheerleading/dancing
expenses can be heavy during the first 4 months of the season.
Early-fall fundraising proceeds can be used towards items such as
uniforms and accessories.
Expenses will go
up again in early winter due to possibly of national competition
traveling costs. Fall, winter, and holiday fundraising proceeds can
greatly offset these costs.
Can
fundraising monies be used to pay monthly tuition?
Monies
earned through fundraising can be used to pay the monthly tuition, by
filling out a receipt. If you owe back-tuition at the end of the
season and have funds in your account, those funds will automatically
be withdrawn and paid to XCG to satisfy the debt.
What
happens if there is money left in my account after the season is
over?
If you have money left in your
account ($150 maximum) at the end of the season and your child
intends to cheer again the following year, the money should remain in
the account to get a jumpstart on the upcoming season. However, if
your child decides not to cheer next year and there is a balance in
the account, it will not be reimbursed. Please make every effort to
utilize your money throughout the year. Additionally, if your child
leaves at anytime during the season, leaves a balance in the account
that balance will be added to the general fund to be used for open
house, parties or even celebrating the cheerleader's/dancer's
birthday.
Staying
Informed:
Upcoming
fundraisers and other important information will be posted at the
gym. This information will also be available on the website at
www.xcgcheer.com. Please check this website often, as important
information, reminders and announcements are frequently posted.
We
encourage all parents to get involved. Bring your ideas, comments and
suggestions. And as always, teach your child basic safety rules when
fundraising. Sell to friends, family, neighbors and business
associates and never let your child fundraise door-to-door without
adult supervision.
